Fog Signals are short updates, corrections, or clarifications.

The official minutes page is back online! Take a moment to enjoy the minutes. Thank you, Rachel, for your work keeping residents informed despite our wonky website.
January 16, 2026, shall be inscribed in the chronicles as the day that Suzi Mills began her service as our Elberta postmaster. Stop on in and say hello.
Kay Bond, a genealogist among many other vocations, has done some research on some beautifully framed old photos found in the Red House on Furnace Street, which has yet to be demolished. She suspects they date as far back as the 1870s. With the help of pavement-pounding Andy Micham they were found to depict relations of Barbara Harju, who lived there with her two daughters (Ms. Harju was our Village clerk, and her name is all over our codes and ordinances). Kay would like to connect the photos to family members who might be interested in having them, or who might have more information to share about them. So if you know anything, you can contact me and I’ll be happy to pass along your information, or connect you directly to Kay, who is a very nice lady.
As Arlene Sweeting noted at last night’s council meeting, Bill Soper and Maggie have removed 8 tires from Betsie Bay, bringing this body of water several treads closer to the unspoiled primeval state it was in before James Watt breached his mother’s loins. Thank you, Bill.
Chris Cervantes says the end of Acre Street that is on the other side of M22/Frankfort Avenue, which in my opinion just looks like part of the Moselers’ driveway but is in fact a Village Street, is now being plowed. As Commissioner Sauer pointed out during his report, we’ve had over 60 inches of snow so far this year, compared with a bit over 40 last year. What a year to be one’s very first at plowing. Thank you, Chris!
